Applewhite Tyll’s Year in Review

December 13, 2022

As we wrap up the year 2022 and focus our attention on the Joys of the Christmas season and the hopes for a successful 2023, I thought it would be a good time to pause and reflect. As I think back on what has been a difficult year in the markets and a year that will be remembered mainly as “uncertain”, I know one thing to be certain: Tracy and I are thankful for you, your relationship, and the trust you place in our team. We know that prolonged volatile times in the markets can be daunting, can cause us to question our investment and retirement plan, and can test the patience of even the most seasoned and successful investors. However, as we have said many times, remaining disciplined even when it’s not easy and sticking to your plan gives you the highest probability of a positive outcome. We have no reason to believe “it’s different this time”. We recently released our 2023 outlook, and I hope you can read more about our expectations here. Please let us know if you have questions.

As I reflect on my life on a personal level over the last year I had a lot of reasons for gratitude. I had the absolute privilege of helping our clients pay for weddings, buy beach houses, retire and stay invested. I find the work that I do so fulfilling and helping people navigate life’s most complex situations brings me immense joy. I also had the opportunity to open our brand new office, begin the construction of a new home, and welcome my daughter into the world in August. I've watched my wife continue to grow into who I think is the best mom in the world. My sister is expecting her first child with her husband Matt, and Melanie and I were able to host their baby shower. Our clients introduced us to their friends and family and we grew the Applewhite Tyll family. Tracy and I traveled to LPL's largest conference, Focus in Denver, and later in the year we were invited to the Forbes Top Team's conference in Chicago. While there were plenty of times in 2022 that were stressful, I am reminded how blessed I am to have the clients and family that I do and we found lots of reasons to smile. I am eternally grateful for allowing me to be a part of your life and financial journey.

Cheers to a happy, healthy, and successful 2023.
